In mid-July, we were lucky enough to have a double-whammy of visits in one week! For months, we had planned to have my mom come out to watch Colin while we whisked off to Princeton for a weekend getaway to celebrate at Laura and Pete's wedding. Because my dad's band had two gigs that weekend, we assumed that this would just be a month that he missed in the Friedson monthly baby visitation schedule, and my mom planned to bring my grandma along instead. Then, Grandpa decided that he wanted to get his baby fix too, so he came from Sunday to Tuesday, and then Grandma and Gigi came Thursday to Sunday. It was a blast.
We filled my dad's two day visit with tons of fun. It started with a super-excited greeting and huge hug from Colin, and from then on out, those two boys were inseparable. Colin wanted only to be held by Grandpa (which was awesome for my over-exercised left bicep - that boy is getting HEAVY!). We played and hung out at home on Sunday night. On Monday, we took Grandpa to Explore and Much More to play, and then we went for lunch at Lulubelles next door. That afternoon, Grandpa joined us for our playgroup at Weisman park, and he helped Colin play in the fountains and climb on the playground. On Tuesday, we brought Grandpa along to Wiggleworms class before he headed back to Ohio. All and all, it was a wonderful bonus visit!
Later that week, Grandma and Gigi (great-grandma = Gigi) came in, and while Colin's grogginess post-nap led to a less enthusiastic greeting, the weekend was equally fun. We shared a fun afternoon together at the park (despite the nearly 100 degree heat), and had a yummy dinner at home. On Friday, David and I headed to the airport, and Colin was such a great boy for his Grandma - no tears at our departure. He must have had a great time (visiting with our cousin, going out to lunch with the girls, walking to the swings, playing with toys), because when we got back, it was no big deal to him. He was even willing to be held by Grandma while I was in the room, which is quite the big achievement for our separation anxiety-ridden goofball.
We loved both of our visits, and are looking forward to seeing all of C's grandparents again within the month!
